COVID | A Transparent Mirror

A virus spread equally to all living beings, no matter the race, religion, or social status. It's up to our immune system to fight it, and save lives.

Anti-viral drugs try to boost that ability.

In the midst of this pandemic, I think there is a lesson we can learn: a fact is not an opinion.

For example the number of casualties due to COVID is a fact, regardless of the many interpretations that humans may want to attach to it.
A facial mask that limit the spread of the virus, is another fact, and we need not to be a Nobel Prize to understand it.

Since a virus is essentially indifferent to social status, gender, and race, it's not affected by opinions, belief or culture. It strikes everyone in the same way.

Such behavior act as a neutral background, like a white layer, where biased opinions stand out by contrast. It's like a blank paper.
Recently Angela Merkel said something interesting : "You cannot fight the pandemic with lies". [1]

Trump, as well as Brazil's Jair Bolsonaro and Russia's Vladimir Putin, must have felt his ears burning when the German Chancellor demolished their approaches to the coronavirus in a speech Thursday. "As we are experiencing firsthand, you cannot fight the pandemic with lies and disinformation any more than you can fight it with hate or incitement to hatred," Merkel said. "The limits of populism and denial of basic truths are being laid bare." [1]

I think this comment is remarkable, as it highlights the contrast between COVID and our attempt to escape from problems, when we're unable to deal with them.

The human mind has the tendency to engage in actions for a benefit, a return, that motivates back that action.

The 'give and take' approach is dominant in our culture, but it falls short when the enemy is not black-mailable, like a virus.
We can't say that a virus has an interest against a particular party, or individual. We can't blackmail a virus. Rather, what we could do is trying to learn a lesson from it, so we become stronger.

To do that we need the strong quality of Respect which is part of the human values.

How do I capitalize on COVID so that I become stronger?
The answer is : by fighting at the same level. No tricks, opinions, or personal interest.
The answer to a lie is Transparency.
Transparency is capable to fight COVID and build a better community based on Peace, and Respect for all beings. [2]
