Respect Women, and what if we don't

In Indian culture women have a crucial and highly respected role. Of course this is not what recently was reported by media, but I'll probably discuss that in another article.

Indians are about 80% Hindus and in this article I'll focus on this community, although there are inspiring examples in all cultures all over the world.
For Indians a woman do not simply represent motherhood, she's also regarded as a teacher, and is the light of the home. It's said that if you teach a woman, she will teach a village. Women are naturally inclined to be patient, and tolerant with their children, and in this community a mother is regarded as higher than Heaven. At home they look after their children (if any), they take care of her husband, and they follow the Hindu's calendar which is full of inspiring celebrations. These events are kept alive by the strong tradition that Indian culture is promoting since the beginning of humanity. This is why India is considered by many the spiritual heritage of the entire World.

The Theory that I'd like to discuss in this article is linked to the law of Karma, an Indian word which means Action. Simply stated, Karma is the same law of action-reaction that regulates the entire Universe, and that aim to restore a balance. In Chinese culture this is equivalent to Tao, or the way the Universe works. In essence Karma states the 3rd law of motion of Newton: "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction". The Universe, and the human mind, being part of it, works under this law.

The law of Karma is quite simple and generic, that can be applied in many different situations.
For example, if wealth accumulate in a particular place, poverty will develop in another.
If blood accumulate or stagnate in the body, disease is likely to develop.
If we hurt someone, soon or later we'll be hurt back.

It's said that violence creates violence, and this is another example of the law of Karma.
Apparently a weaker creature when compared to man, a woman is indeed endowed with immense power.
She's not having the physical power of man of course, but nevertheless and according to Karma, her power can be constructive or devastating, and we see that in action everywhere in the world.

Woman's power is constructive when driven by love, and destructive in the absence of love.
In Indian culture it's said that you can measure the quality of a country from the respect that they've for women.

In my view, in countries where women are abused, violence develop. Violence of course is a complex reaction, but for the sake of simplicity I'd like to focus only on one aspect of it. For example, if we look at middle-east conflicts, I believe that the biggest contribution to war is not religion or famine, or segregation. These are effects to unresolved problems, not causes. To me the root cause is ignorance, which in turn results in violence inflicted by few, to many, especially women.

The same apply to other scenarios, for example take the Mafia which initially developed in south of Italy.
Of course there are good people there, who respect life and others, and who suffer because of Mafia, and I believe they're the majority. But where women are abused, the result is a child, who will likely inflict the same violence to others.

The Genetics of violence is under research, and studies have shown that both Nurture and Genetics contribute to the development of ASPD (Antisocial Personality Disorder) marked by aggressive behaviour.
According to Guo G, Roettger ME, Shih JC. from Jackson Laboratory A specific variant of the MAOA gene (VNTR 2R MAOA) was a risk factor of violent delinquency, but only when the boys suffered some other stress, such as family issues, low popularity and failing school.
These and other studies suggest that when subjected to an abusive childhood, individuals with low -MAO-A expression has are at an increased risk of developing Anti-Social Personality Disorder. This may yield to a long-term pattern of manipulating, exploiting, or violating the rights of others, and may commit violent criminal acts. [1]

Conversely a child born with love, will be capable to lead the way for many. He or she may even become a hero for the whole world. Indian culture is full of such noble souls, take Mahatma Gandhi just to mention one.

Karma is not something we can easily escape, but Love is greater, and invincible.
